Very many thanks to the lovely and talented Honoré, over at Morning Glory Studio, for offering us the opportunity to think about our One Little Word and to share how we are travelling with it at the end of this first month of the year.
The word which gently settled with me some weeks ago was 'Vitality', and I had lots of good intentions (they're here). In case you suspect that there's a 'but' on its way, I'm pleased to say that so far, 'Vitality' and I have been rubbing along quite nicely. 'Micro-exercises' keep me moving - and when I say, 'micro', I really do mean that: working up to a sixty seconds of doing The Plank, two-minute balancing exercises, one song's worth of dancing while the kettle boils, ten squats, a one-minute door slide ... you're probably smiling now at how tiny these steps are! Re-purposing the little table we made from a cardboard box for our grand-daughter's chair at Christmas means I can stand at my laptop instead of sitting. This month for me is about making one intention concrete, visible and embedded in every day - and teeny-weeny steps are fine for now ...
Himself has been doing his bit too and, as we've had a very un-snowy winter so far (flurries today), we've been out walking up hill and down dale as often as possible, with our best walk being over sixteen thousand steps and the equivalent of seventy-four flights of stairs. When faced with a choice this month, I've found it really useful to ask myself 'What would a person with vitality chose?' or 'What would she be doing that would nourish or make visible her vitality'? And then doing it :). I'm already pondering how to move things on next month. Thank-you for popping in - and if you have a word this year, I hope that you and it are enjoying being together ...
