Joining in with Mary-Lou, over at Patio Postcards, who hosts her 'Take Three Thursday' meme, featuring a trio of photos linked in some way - by colour, theme, date, moments, or point of view. Thank-you, Mary-Lou!
Our first walk of the year for me and Himself along a new-to-us path, led past some wonderful carvings illustrating the history of the area: submarine fossils, a ten-foot rectangle illustrating the flora and fauna including the nearby folly in the shape of a round tower, and a lime-kiln worker (he's the one on the right).
Amazing to realise that over 300 million years ago, this landscape was bathed in warm tropical seas; in the eighteenth century was so scarred by a sprawling quarries, 'pudding-pie' lime kilns and swirling smoke that even the locals complained; and yet now is a forest so quiet you can hear a twig crack underfoot. Vive la Nature!
Thank goodness for the resilience of Mother Earth & nature. I do like that post of the shells. The middle plaque certainly took a lot of work & skill to tell the story in wood. Such a beautiful place to walk. Thanks for joining in to Take Three Thursday.

The New Years walk is a wonderful habit ... and how wonderful that you found such wonderful examples of Nature healing herself to start off your year!

These are wonderful finds, and I appreciate the commentary as well. I'm definitely not good about getting out to walk in the winter, but that is soon to change. Just this morning I decided on a Project 52 to encourage more photography this year---52 Photowalks.

Oh those fossil carvings are lovely! We've just got back from a walk and there's a lot more industrial and similar stuff than warm seas or quiet forests.
