... no, I refuse to mention the C word yet! but it's perhaps time to get a move on as December hoves into view. Outside, a few lemony leaves cling to the dark branches scoring our windy and ragged sky; inside, cellophane packets of dried fruit jostle a clutch of cinnamon sticks atop a slightly tattered recipe notebook. But before my hands disappear into floury clouds and knobbles of butter, they've grabbed the camera.
Sian's lovely challenge When is a Photo not a Photo (in Jot magazine and over at High in the Sky) to make a gift tag or card using a little photo of an everyday object has been rumbling round my psyche all month. And I reckon my old Scheidegger Princess typewriter counts. A quick snap-and-print, a slit in the photo with a craft knife and the insertion of a little piece of typing was all it took ...
A lot of fun, Sian, and thank-you! As Advent is nearly here, I'm off to add twenty-four matchboxes to my shopping list. Some of you with long crafting memories may remember and guess what they're needed for? As we have an impending visit next weekend from a very special Little One and Big One, it really is time to get a move on :).
Brilliant! How did December creep up on us so quickly?

This is so lovely Alexa :D What a great idea! I'm excited to see the results of your matchbox crafting... An advent calendar by any chance?! xx

That's lovely Alexa, what a clever idea. I made an advent row of houses last week at a retreat. It is starting to feel a lot like Christmas.... hope you manage to get your matchboxes made and have lots of fun with your little ones.x

Oh, now this is just super cute!
Evidence of the C season is everywhere but I am avoiding saying it as much as possible!

Fabulous little tags Alexa x
I'm afraid we can no longer hide from the C word as it's everywhere we look...

so clever on the tag, it looks great. Getting all nostalgic for creating with 24 matchboxes

That little tag is just lovely Alexa. I usually like to keep the C word firmly in December, where it belongs! Teaching card classes means it has had to come out to play a little earlier this year. Have fun with the matchboxes :o)

ps..we've been suffering from a little bit of Christmas creep here. We mad mince pies!

Your tag is scroll stoppingly beautiful. So clever.
Also there are a lot of C words that came to mind. The first is too rude to be typed here, the second is too horrible to think of as I lost most of my family and friends to that disease. So glad I looked again at the title.
My 11 year old son was just commenting on how quickly this season crept up on us. Time really is flying by if an 11 year old notices.

What a perfect tag! I'm collecting up a few photos of old typewriters to use on a layout about my typing journey - learning & winning awards in middle school right up to teaching keyboarding!

This is sooooo cute, you did well with Sian's prompt! The Christmas season starts for me the Sunday after our Thanksgiving and this year that even meant December :) Have fun with the Little One and the Big One :)

What an adorable little tag Alexa - and so clever to put the typed message scrolling out of the typewriter photo! It is definitely feeling like (yes, I'll say it for you) CHRISTMAS around here. My shopping is just about done thanks to the Internet. Hallelujah.

Love the tag! We're of mixed minds in this house - I start thinking of the C word right after our Santa Claus parade (the middle of November) while DH is content to wait till 2 weeks before.
