Welcome to my workdesk and desktop today! The inside bit started like this ...
As I continue to clear out the weight of years past, I am having to make some firm decisions about those things to which I say 'thank-you and goodbye', and those which remain and in which form. After much hesitation, I decided to keep a very small fraction of work from a previous career - that which represented the best of what I'd done - as a way of bearing witness to and honouring part of my life which is no longer. Since I have very uncomplicated A-Z filing system, I needed a new section for it - hence the card and inexpensive manila folders above which form the backbone of my simple organisation.
If you're interested, here's what happened next. If not, you might just prefer to skip to the photo at the end! Cutting a manila folder in two down the spine, both covers are then trimmed to a little larger than A4 (the standard size in the UK) so as to allow for inserting any clear plastic folders I might need. The scrapbooking papers were cut next to the same size, the outside corners rounded (to avoid becoming dog-eared), and then glued to the two manila covers. I find this a great way to use up paper I've bought which I realised I will probably never use on a scrapbook page, and the back is frequently a different paper - as here - to the front. Then ...
And the outside bit? The photo below is on my desktop. You might remember an autumnal picture of our landscape up here from a few weeks ago? Yesterday, it has changed again: winter shapes are starker, silhouettes darker, the light cooler ...
Is winter arriving with you yet, this mid-November Wednesday, or are you still in the full glory of autumn?
You are definitely a little further along than we are - leaves are still shedding here. But that could change in a day!

I really like your winter photo. Leaves have just changed colors this past week or so here in my part of Texas, a few of the "early shedders" are dropping their leaves, but we still have a ways to go before autumn is over here.

Our street is about 3/4 of the way to looking like your photo. We have HUGE piles of leaves along the edge of the street waiting for the town to pick them up. But there are still some leaves on many of the trees. Usually they don't all fall until after our Thanksgiving (next Thursday), and frequently there's snow before we get them all raked and to the street. I'm not a fan of bare trees. I've decided it's the lack of foliage for 4 1/2 months a year that depresses me about winter here. I can tolerate the cold and snow, but it's just so bleak without the leaves on the trees.

My morning walks still feel autumnal and there are still trees with golden leaves on them. Mind you, i've skipped it this morning. Couldn't quite bring myself to go out in this blustery, wet, cold weather. Hopefully this afternoon will be nicer. Lovely photograph of the country lane. Still has a warmth to it, with the orange colours :) Px

I like your filing system Alexa it fits your neat clean style. As to the weather it has turned really cold here in Northamptonshire with thick heavy morning frosts. I like it as long as it is not raining. I love going out for walks along the glistening paths.

Some very stylish organising. Great tip with the little tied on labels. It's kind of damp, grey and miserable here today very different from yesterday which was bright and crisp but I suppose that's the great British weather for you.

Hardly any leaves left on the trees here, they've all blown away in the wind (there must be a song title in there somewhere!)
I like your filing system, I use something similar but was too lazy to make my own & settled for 12 x 12 Cropper Hopper Paper Holders instead :) Yours is prettier!!
